BUSINESS & NON-PROFIT WEBSITES
Less Hassle, More Happy
Building a website is like building a house. You have to know where you want to live, what your landscaping will look like, the floor-plan of the house and what the décor will look like. Maybe you have a website you want to tear down and rebuild. Building or rebuilding a website doesn't have to be a hassle and not all 'contractors' (or developers) are created equal. First, you have to know what everything means. Then you can speak the language.
The Website/House Comparison
- Domain: Your domain is the same as your house's address. Our office is at 4925 St Elmo. Our web domain is www.sisarina.com. You have to have an address to get people to come find you.
- Hosting: Your hosting is the same as the lot your house sits on. It's just land, nothing there yet but has the potential to be something great. You pay your hosting company just like you pay for your land. In this case, your hosting is leased and you pay monthly or yearly for the space for your website.
- Website Design: Your website designer is an architect. They draw up plans and paint you a picture of what the website will look like when it's finished. This tells the developer where all of your modules (rooms) will go. It shows where the couch will sit and where all the electricity will go so that people can walk into your house (surf your website) and they won't hit a dead-end.
- Website Development: Your website developer is the contractor. They build your house based on the plans the architect (designer) lays out for them. The developer allows you to click through your site, sets up your contact forms and makes sure you have space for your content.
- Launching: Once your website is all done, content is in place and you're ready to show the world, it's launched. This means that you can have an open house and invite all your friends to come hang out at your website.
Hope that clears things up for you. We'll be talking a lot about domains, hosting, website design and development when you work with us. Want to get started on your design scope? Start here by doing it yourself.
A couple other things you'll be hearing from us are:
Content Management System (CMS)
This is where we build your website so you can update it yourself. No maintenance contracts, not worrying at 2am that a word on your website is wrong. You can build new pages, add SEO (Search Engine Optimization) information, update content on every page, and still keep the same format without messing everything up. We use PICO but we'll let you meet PICO on the CMS page.

Ecommerce
If you want a shopping cart that allows your website visitors to buy stuff from you, we can build that too. We make sure you can add your products as you get them, update sales tax, changing shipping information and make sure it runs smoothly.
Modules
PICO, our CMS, allows you to add as many pages as you want but modules are where the developer has to build something different than just a page. Anything you can dream up can be built for you but most of it we've already built. Forms, blogs, news sections, feeds, video players, social media stuff, and more. See the CMS page for more on modules.
