With a 90-something degree day on Tuesday, July 19, #DCTweetup became an indoor happy hour instead of utilizing the gorgeous patios at The Getaway in Columbia Heights. Tweeters from around DC came out to support the brand new restaurant & bar while drinks flowed, service was plentiful and sweet potato tots were on special.

The Getaway is a 5000-sq ft restaurant & bar with the largest outdoor patio in Columbia Heights. It's only 4 blocks north of the Columbia Heights metro stop in a gorgeous multi-level building with plenty of windows and relaxing leather couches. It's the perfect spot for brunch, a quiet date or happy hour with friends. Tuesdays even have a 'Couples Getaway' with half-priced wine bottles.

With all the DC twitterati out last night, one attendee even said "If a bomb went off upstairs at @TheGetawayDC during @Sisarina & @mollymali's #DCTweetup tonight, there would be no more tweets from #DC." It was a great night for putting twitter handles with IRL faces & a way for others to catch up with friends who have been too busy to hang out.
