Research & Recommendations
~by Liz Glomb (@eglomb)
Week 2 at Sisarina has brought some new things to the plate as well as allowed me to take some of the skills I learned in previous places and put them to use again. This week I feel like I did a lot of research. I researched public calendars and websites in which to post all the events that we’ll be planning this summer, and of course some ideas for events to plan this summer. Not only have we started thinking of ideas for events over the next few months, but we’ve also started to come up with a list of venues that we want to check out to see if they’ll let us use their space.
I’m excited for next week because Nicole and I have already made plans to go on some on-site visits and just look around the city to see what we can find. I guess this is where I should say that if you happen to work for a great bar or restaurant in the DMV area and you happen to read this post, feel free to talk to us to get an event at your venue!! I’m also excited for next week because I’ll be attending a #DCTweetup in the Garden on Thursday. The entire event is going to serve a great cause, and of course it’s in a lovely garden, so what’s not to like?
I’m really looking forward to being able to take some of the ideas that we’ve come up with for events and take them to the next level and get them planned and executed. The next #DCTwirlies event that is being planned should be awesome and well… girly. Stay tuned for info for that soon… until next week, ciao!
Girliness & Glam

A lot of firsts happened this week, but most importantly I attended my first #DCTwirlies event and planned my first event! The #DCTwirlies event consisted of a casual happy hour and Sex and The City 2, not too bad for my first event as an intern. My friends were pretty jealous when I told them that this was part of my internship!
I wasn’t sure what to expect of my first #DCTwirlies event, but we met at Jaleo in downtown Bethesda for great tapas and Sangria. I was a little nervous but was very relieved as I realized it was a relaxed happy hour with casual conversation. It started off as a very small group of businesswomen from the local area and we were able to talk about things pertaining to business but also about our interests and upcoming plans. As more women joined, we talked about what we had heard about the movie we were about to see.
Sisarina’s entire belief behind these networking events, is that you do business with people you like and people you trust. We hold events in which more women can not only meet new people but also network relating to their businesses. It all makes sense!
After starting my week off, Monday night with the first #DCTwirlies event, I was excited to plan our next #DCTwirlies Event: ‘Tinis and Toes! At Sisarina HQ on July 14th, we will enjoy Martinis & Pedicures ('Tinis & Toes) along with a massage therapist and delicious appetizers & desserts, all supporting local woman-owned businesses. I’m honing my event planning skills more with this upcoming event, contacting different locally owned businesses and trying to stay organized among my different to-do lists. So yet again, another successful and busy week with Sisarina! Keep checking out our upcoming events, and let me know what you think… @nicolemott! Until next time…
