How do we become the best at what we do?
How do we make sure that everything we touch is better for having been in our hands?
These are questions we’re asking ourselves here at Sisarina HQ as we strive to make sure that mediocrity is never an option. What that boils down to, for me anyway, is focus.
Excellence must be my mantra.
It must be the one thing I keep in my mind at all times. When I answer the phones, reply to an email or check a website, all other decision-making factors need to be secondary.
This means I’m going to have to fight some tendencies in myself. I tend to rush things when I feel pressure. Rushing through a project almost always results in mediocrity. One of my mantras these days is, “Slow down!”
I also tend to placate. Clients, developers, designers, everyone involved in the process has ideas, complaints, shortcuts, etc. that can all cut in to the perfection of the end product. I need to always ask myself, “Will this make the product even better?”
Slow down and focus on excellence. This is my plan to fight mediocrity. What’s yours?
