To light up the night. To let go. To erase the past.
What is it?
A party during the darkest time of year. When the holidays are over, the new year’s resolutions have already been forgotten, and it seems like spring will never come. It is a chance to let go of something that is holding you back, to leave something behind in the most literally brilliant way possible – by setting it on fire. And by doing so, you take something dark in your life and turn it into light.

Why are you doing this?
Christie: For years I’ve wanted to throw a party like this — one that thumbs its nose at winter, allows us all to have a great time, and is more than just throwing on a great dress and hitting the dance floor (though I love that too).
Melanie: I’d do anything for Christie, but when she came to me with the idea of leaving things behind, I knew it was something I had to do. In business, I tell my clients to let go of their old brand and move on with their new one. Since my business helps others start fresh, allowing myself to start fresh again by letting go of my past, I can honestly help them.
Why now? What does it all mean to you?
Christie: For me personally 2011 was a year of huge transition, new experiences, and odd happenings. Some good, some bad, and some DEFINITELY needing to be left in the past. So that is why now — it is time to get out the and live life large, and in order to do so I need to let go of the things that are holding me back. And when I started to talk with people, I found that they needed to do the same. So I decided to honor the spirit of my coaching practice and bring people together to support each other, rather than trying to stand alone. And it made sense to partner with one of the coolest gals I know (waves at Sisarina) and invite anyone needing some light in their life to come out and celebrate with us!
Melanie: 2011 was a year of removing people who didn’t make me better and items that didn’t make me happy. Being able to write something down and watch it burn will be very therapeutic for me as I move into 2012. Being able to do it with a lot of others will allow us all to get to know new people and be upfront about what we’re leaving behind.
